Nokia and Zeiss brands reunite for the Android era

The 13-megapixel rear camera takes sharp shots, with a good exposure balance. There's a lot to like about Nokia lumia's midrange Nokia 5 handset. There's an 8-megapixel front camera, too, with an HDR mode that gives sharp, well-balanced selfies. There's quite a lot of image noise in low-light shots, so wait until you're outside in the daylight to take your best shots. The phone runs android Nougat, which Nokia has left completely untouched.

Nokia and Zeiss brands reunite for the Android era

HMD Global, the Finnish company that licensed the rights to produce Nokia lumia phones, is now rekindling an old partnership with Zeiss camera lenses. HMD will have to prove that its premium handset with Zeiss optics isn't just an average android phone with a couple of respected stickers on it. Nokia-built phones used Carl Zeiss optics for years, heralding it as a selling point for the popular N95 smartphone a decade ago. Any new Nokia-branded premium phones won't be made by the same engineers that pioneered PureView. HMD has already unveiled a trio of Nokia-branded Android smartphones, but none of them feature Zeiss optics.

Nokia 3 UK release date, price and where to buy the Android smartphone
Nokia lumia 3 is the workhorse handset (Picture: Nokia)The relaunch of Nokia's classic 3310 made headlines around the world earlier this summer – and now there's a new Nokia smartphone. Unlike some manufacturers, which load up extra software on a handset – think Samsung apps like 'S Voice' – HMD is using a 'pure' version of Google 's smartphone software. There's an eight megapixel selfie camera above the screen and an eight megapixel wide-angle autofocus camera on the back of the handset. Like the 3310, it's made by HMD Global, which owns the licence to Nokia's brand – and it's also a bit of a bargain at £119. It will also be on sale via Carphone Warehouse, Vodafone, EE, Argos, Tesco, Virgin, and Amazon.
