Black Panther style: Why Lupita Nyong'o wears green

according to Jane's (Paula Patton) one-shouldered floaty number in Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol may have looked delicate, but it had to do some serious acrobatics in a chase scene: "They had to make a special ball gown for that scene with a little bit of Velcro in the back," Patton told Vanity Fair. "We're on our way to our next mission, and I'm in this huge green ball gown, and we have to get to our next place where I have to do a lot of physical activity. I'll tell you, changing in a car while it's speeding through the streets of Mumbai is quite a challenge."

It's fitting that actresses Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira and Lupita Nyong'o are being honored in ELLE's annual Women in Hollywood issue (on stands Oct. 23). After all, no other movie this year has rivaled the cultural and financial influence of Black Panther, directed by Ryan Coogler. The blockbuster is set in a "Marvel universe that is unapologetically black," Nyong'o notes. "In our story," Nyong'o says, "the emphasis is on many different women holding their own space." Overall, Gurira appreciated how Wakanda, as a society, "was celebratory of everyone equally."

The Black Panther Isn't the King of His Cosmic Empire

As it stated in The following contains spoilers for Black Panther #1 by Ta-Nehisi Coates and Daniel Acuña, on sale now. Ta-Nehisi Coates has been writing Black Panther for two years now. Following that, the Empire was shown thriving during the pages of Marvel Legacy, and the Rise of the Black Panther miniseries has shown that traveling to space isn't something T'Challa just thought of. Donned in black armor with helmets stylized after Black Panther's mask, the Maroon forces attack the mine to rescue T'Challa, with none other than Nakia and M'Baku leading the charge. Anyone who loved the latter's entrance in the final act of the Black Panther movie will love how he pops in during this rescue mission.

It will obviously depend on what villain the story calls for, but two big stars have already had their names thrown about for the sequel. Kendrick Lamar, who curated the soundtrack for Black Panther, has said he wants to be Killmonger, which is probably not an option, but perhaps he could play another villain. Also, even though he has already appeared in the MCU in Spider-Man: Homecoming, it was reported that Ryan Coogler was looking at Donald Glover to play the villain in the sequel.
